NAGPUR: Because of alleged inferior quality works by Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority NMRDA Some 320 families live in flats built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana ( PMAY. )
Within one year of taking possession, ) face rainwater seepage, electrical shocks, and other problems. NMRDA has yet to execute lease agreements with PMAY beneficiaries, despite paying Rs7 lakh for flat and Rs25,000 maintenance.
Bricksfamily.com highlights major flaws under PMAY selection on August 22. The private bank was appointed to prepare software and conduct the process without NMRDA tender.
NMRDA built 942 flats on khasra No. 62 under mouza Tarodi. Each wing has 48 G+4 floors. NMRDA has taken possession of 450 flats, with 320 occupied.
Pradeep Chaudhary, president of the association of flat owners, in his statement, said that “Flat owners are suffering from NMRDA’s shoddy work. Rainwater seepage is a severe problem. Rainwater seepage is a significant problem. It can seep from the roof, side walls, and within electric boards, flooding the whole floor. The paint has also faded, and cracks have formed.”
Chaudhary also mentioned another problem: electric shock in some wings, as NMRDA didn’t provide earthing. NMRDA also has not offered transformers to meet the requirements. They are all poor and only use a small amount of electronic and electrical equipment. He said that short-circuiting and tripping are still common.”
He said that some flats face water shortages due to poor pipeline work. “Internal Tar roads have potholes, and the surface layer has peeled away. He noted that waterlogging could occur with only the slightest rainfall because of poor storm water drains.
NMRDA is said to be maintaining their silence about the lease deed, despite having possession of flats for over a year. NMRDA has yet to commission the solar power system, sewage treatment plant, yoga centre, and other facilities facilitated under PMAY.
Leena Upadhyay, NMRDA’s superintending engineer, stated that VNIT was contracted to perform quality checks and provide a report. Contractors will be dealt with accordingly. Their final bill has not been released. We will have problems fixed under the defect liability period. Flat owners should join the NMRDA to form the society. This is essential for undertaking maintenance work.
MLC Pravin Datke (also BJP president) has called for action against NMRDA engineers regarding PMAY’s inferior quality work. “Contractors must be blacklisted. These people are often poor and cannot afford repairs. He stated that NMRDA should pay engineers and contractors to repair the damage and carry out all repairs.
Chaudhary stated that some flat owners had taken loans up to 14% per annum because of NMRDA’s conditions. NMRDA is causing us all great trouble. He said that NMRDA has not taken into consideration his complaints.
