What is BHK, and how does it work? These are two questions buyers often ask when looking for a house. “Spacious 1/2/3 BHK Houses. These advertisements in newspapers, social media, and billboards can be confusing, even though they are attractive. We have created a detailed article to help you decode the meaning. It includes information about the various configuration units, such as 1, 2, and 3 BHK.
Once you have decided on your location and budget, it is time to determine the complete form.

BHK Full Form and Its Meaning

What is BHK?

BHK stands for ‘Bedroom, Hall, and Kitchen‘. 

This is a typical housing unit in an apartment complex with multiple floors. There are four common BHK types: 1 BHK,2 BHK, 3 BHK, and 4 BHK. A 1BHK apartment usually includes one bedroom, one hall (living room), one kitchen, and one bathroom.

Let’s look at an example to simplify the process. A 2 BHK property will have two bedrooms, one hall/living room, and one kitchen.

A 3BHK unit has three bedrooms, one hall, and a fully equipped kitchen. The total number of bedrooms, the hall, and the kitchen area is denoted by a BHK.

51.5BHK1.5 Bedroom + 1 Hall/living room + 1 Kitchen. In 1.5 BHK, 0.5 indicates that the bedroom is smaller than the regular size. 
62.5 BHK2.5 bedroom + 1 Hall/living room + 1 kitchen. 
72BHK 2T2 bedroom + 2 washrooms + 1 Hall/Living room + 1 Kitchen. This configuration has 1 master bedroom and 1 regular bedroom size. 

What is a 0.5 BHK unit configuration?

A 0.5 BHK flat/apartment indicates a smaller bedroom than the regular size. It also includes a kitchen and a bathroom/shower room. This unit is suitable for either a small family or an individual. Due to rising demand from home buyers, the 0.5BHK unit arrangement has become very popular.

What is 1 BHK Unit?

A 1BHK is one standard-sized bedroom, hallway, and kitchen. The standard configuration is 400-500 sq. ft. This is an excellent choice for small families or lower-middle-class families due to rising property prices. They can convert the hall into a bedroom for their children and make the house more spacious.

What does 1.5 BHK Unit Arrangement mean?

Two rooms make up a 1.5-bedroom apartment. One is the main bedroom, and one is the standard-sized guest room. The other can be used as a bedroom/guest or study room. You can use the space as a store or pooja area.

What is a 2.5 BHK Housing Unit?

2.5 BHK combines two bedrooms, one small living room, and one kitchen. The standard size for this configuration is usually greater than 950 square feet. A 1BHK is an excellent investment for the long term. It may seem compact when you consider expanding your family. A 2 BHK apartment is an excellent investment choice for a nuclear family.

The 2BHK apartment unit offers value for money due to its superior amenities and many size options. A 1 BHK unit may seem cheaper than a 2BHK. However, square-foot costs can be higher in some cases. It is better to choose a smaller 2 BHK than a large 1BHK with a high square-foot cost.

Higher Returns: Real estate investing is a long-term venture. Think before you invest. Indians are more likely to purchase a home when they have a child.
