Khasra Number – In rural areas, a Khasra Number is a unique number assigned to a parcel of land. Khasra Numbers are similar to survey or plot numbers that are assigned to urban areas.

Khata Number – A Khata Number, also known as a Khewat Number, is a number assigned to landowners who own a parcel of land jointly. The Khata Number identifies landowners and their total landholdings. The khata number changes as land ownership changes.

For example, two brothers who own land in khewat 4 decide to sell it to someone who owns land in khewat 3. The new owner’s name will be updated in khewat 3 and khewat 4 after mutation.
Khatauni Number – A Khatauni Number is assigned to cultivators who grow crops in different khasra numbers. It provides complete information about the cultivators and the area in which they cultivate. If the landowner cultivates the land, it is recorded in the land records as self-cultivated land.
