Coimbatore Metro
The Coimbatore metro rail project was announced at the Assembly to start during the fiscal year 2017-2008. In February, it was reported that a year was set aside to prepare this project’s Detailed Project Report (DPR).

Latest News on Coimbatore Metro
Coimbatore Metro Rail Lite is anticipated to become operational by 2027 for 9,424 crores. This project is completed in three stages: Collectorate up to Valiyampalayam 14.1 kilometers, Vellalore – Avanashi Road – Coimbatore Airport – PSG Foundry 31.7 km, totaling 45.8 kilometers. The second phase will encompass Coimbatore Railway Junction to Pappampatty, which covers a distance of 13. kilometers and Coimbatore Railway Junction to Periyanaickenpalayam with a total of 18.1 kilometers, thereby covering an overall distance of 31.1 kilometers. The third phase would be PSG Foundry to Kaniyur 9.2 km, Valiampalayam to Ganesapuram 10.5 km, Pappampatti to Carltonpet 11.8 km, Periyanaickenpalayam to Bilichi, 7.8 kilometers and Town Hall to Karunya Nagar 27.7 km.
Additionally, it was thought to extend Corridor 3 under Phase 2 of the Coimbatore metro line. A feasibility test will be conducted to see whether metro routes can be linked with NH 45 and Old Mamallapuram Road. To take over a significant portion of the town, additional feasibility tests would be conducted to extend Corridor 4 and Corridor 5.
