Metro users can apply for the MAHA Card by registering at the desk of a metro station. After completing the process commuters have to pay an initial card issuance fee of INR 150, and then replenish the card with at least INR 100, and in multiples of INR 100, which can extend up to INR 2,000 for hassle-free Metro travel. 1. Extension between Sitabuldi and Kasturchand Park: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray unveiled the 1.6-km expansion of 1.6 km between Sitabuldi and Kasturchand Park on August 21, 2021. It also includes The Zero Mile Freedom Park station with a 60,000 square-foot park and a 20-story tower designed by a French architect. It’s part of the 38 km Nagpur Metro and another 19 km to be built in the east-west direction. Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (Maha Metro) constructed this iconic corridor that is unique in its style and design.
2. Cost Escalation Approval: On October 03 03rd, 2022, the state’s cabinet approved an escalation in cost to around Rs.600 Crores to fund Nagpur Metro Phase 1. The original price approved for this development portion included Rs.8,680 Crores. The cost has been increased by Rs.9,276.6 Crores. The cabinet has agreed with this extension because of the rise in land acquisition prices. The budget increase in funding Nagpur Metro Phase 1 will assist in constructing two stations in addition to Cotton Market and Airport South. While approving a variety of modifications but the authority resisted the approval in 2005.
