On April 14, 2008, the Integrated Terminal Building was officially opened. To renovate and alter the current facilities at Nagpur Airport, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) committed Rs 790 million (US$9.9 million).

Even though it served as a hub for commercial aircraft, it encountered difficulties in the 2010s. It had to risk losing its operating license because of worries about the safety of an abandoned aircraft. Nonetheless, action was taken to resolve the problem and guarantee the airport’s continuous functioning and security.
